The College Life - HIGHS and lows.

I've been so wrapped up in making my way through this first semester at Azusa Pacific University that I've fallen quite utterly behind in many things, especially photography. It's unfortunate, but I think once I get some sort of idea of when or what to photograph, I will be able to get back into it. Since I've moved locations, no one here really knows of my work, so it's basically like starting over. To top things off, I have no escape-go-to-place to take self portraits in privacy. I've managed about two mini shoots in my apartment, but it really hasn't much to offer.
With break coming up very, very soon though, I would like to manage a photo shoot or two around here, and one in Washington as well. Also, I have a friend I'd really like to photograph and he has great hair so hopefully that'll happen soon! I have another friend who is quite lovely and she wants a shoot as well. I'm hoping to get back into it. I also have a wedding in January that I'm a bit nervous over as it's been ages since I've shot a wedding due to this very eventful and busy year.
This year I have hit highs and lows. The highest was flying for the first time, and overseas on top of that. England was great, I loved it! My other high was being accepted to APU and moving away from home to begin school. My lows, besides some unfortunate moments of feeling fearful, crying, and going through emotions here and there, were nothing compared to the lowest of lows in my life.. I lost my dad (blood clot) unexpectedly on September 15th, but my family was not informed until he was identified (it happened while he was alone without an ID) two days later. On September 17th I received a phone call from my sister explaining my dad had passed away.. I was shocked, confused, and it took a long while before it felt real.
My world has been changed ever since then. I am thankful though for all the friends and family who have encouraged me and helped me through. I have a lot of hope for great things still to come. And although I miss my dad loads and wish he was still commenting about my life on facebook, I know that the memories will last a lifetime and that I have some great people to help me along in my journey.
2013 was crazy! Day ONE I was excited for a bus trip to figure out my life. Day Three-hundred-and-sixty-five...we shall see! My life has changed so much!

ENGLAND + UNIVERSITY!

I cannot believe I haven't updated here. I bought my ticket to England on March 26th! I will be departing on July 5th and staying until August 20th! I will be in the northern part of England, around Manchester, left and right.
I am beyond excited for this experience and adventure!
But a few days ago, I also found out I was accepted into Azusa Pacific University in California. I've never been so excited and nervous over something in my life, but I have a peace about it! It's in a beautiful location, that I'm even excited for the places nearby and going on more adventures. It's near the mountains, 20 minutes from LA, and less than an hour from the beach. I've been cooped up in a small little town that doesn't have much to offer. And on top of that, I've lost a lot of contact with many past friends. It seems it's time for me to move on, and I feel ready for it more than ever now. I'm quite excited to enter a new chapter in life, even if it took what seems to be a long time to get to this point..
I'm majoring in Cinematic Arts Production to get a BFA. At least, that's my goal! I'd love to work in movies and make music videos with a team of others. I really want to focus on the photography in films and editing. I'm hoping this is the first step to new doors opening and new opportunities! It's been long overdue.

Happiness.

If you place your happiness in Someone who is unchanging, unmoved, and gracious, you will find yourself with abundant joy and love. The happiness cannot change.
If you place your happiness in someone who can easily change, someone who can disappoint you, leave you, or hurt you, you will find yourself confused, broken, and wounded.
People are changing. Constantly. We make mistakes every single day.
God is unchanging. And will always love you. His word stays the same. He is the same today, yesterday, and forever.
Putting your happiness in Him is a wise choice. People will only fail you. But God will teach you how to love them anyway, and He can keep you content.

Donate toward my travel dream?
I may just have a date chosen and things are looking good! I got to know another friend from the UK and she offered a place to stay if I needed one. I found out that the later I leave, the more expensive it becomes in June. And the soonest I can leave is about May 26, 2013, in which I can save about $300 ordering a ticket for that departure date!
So the great news is there is hope and I will have someone to stay with who is incredibly kind to allow me to! In return I hope I can help her out with photography, as she likes photography as well, and Photoshop and just help out and have fun!
I really hope that something great happens while I'm there and that I can finally know what it is I'm meant to do, and where I'm meant to be. There is purpose in this England trip. I just don't know what it is yet...

Hey, everyone! I'm finally ready to share my exciting news!
As some watchers may remember, I used to talk about traveling. At one point, I said I really needed to get away. I had a list of places I wished to go. Well, when life hit rock bottom, I got a 180, everything completely turn around, and by a miracle my life was changed! My eyes began to open and I started to really see my DREAM. I felt so free and ready to go for it. So, I began to dig deep and figure out what to do!
Should I fly abroad and be an intern, student, or what? Well, I couldn't decide on that, and it still remains in the back of my mind to figure out. But my first step is definitely going to be flying to the country I have chosen and visiting for a decent amount of time to see what it's like, and be somewhere else! This is my dream. To travel the world. To see what's out there. To GO FOR IT.
I chose the UK. For many reasons. One, I intended to see if I could visit a photographer friend of mine (Cat Lane), but as I lacked to get a hold of her for weeks now (she has not responded), I was unsure of where I could stay. I figured I'd find out eventually, as I wouldn't have a lot of vacation time until next June. But I contacted another friend very recently who I knew lived in the UK to inform her that I'll be visiting! She got so very excited and offered her home for me to stay somewhere! This gave me so much hope!
My check-list is being completely slowly but surely and I just really wanted to inform everyone here at deviantART that I will be in the UK most likely in June - August, 2013! I'll most likely stay with this friend in Warrington (arriving at Manchester Airport) for the most part. But I'm very open to moving around and meeting other people if it's do-able and not super expensive! I'd LOVE to meet up with any photographers who are trustworthy and know my work (especially if I know yours!) and collaborate! That's a big thing with my dream. I dream to work with my inspirations or just people who adore this same passion.
If I do find another home to stay, provided they are willing to help me travel to them, I wouldn't mind moving around over there to continue to get a feel of the UK! This really excites me! So if you're from around there, leave a message, and let's talk! So one reason was to meet my friends in the UK, and the other one is because I want to travel far!
